A Blog about Snow

A Blog about Snow

Nature’s surprise party, showing up unannounced and turning the world into a giant snow globe.

It’s likely that everyone has watched White Christmas, the 1954 movie about a Vermont Inn devoid of snow at the beginning of ski season. That was Bozeman until a few days ago. Overnight we went from mowing the leaves from our still green grass and hiking in t-shirts to getting our steps in with the shovel. Mother Nature sprinkled us with happiness on opening day at Bridger Bowl Ski Area, rewarding snow dancers everywhere.

The Holidays are Poetic

The Holidays are Poetic

‘Twas the month before Christmas, and all was a blurr,
Not a mother was sleeping, before enjoying the myrrh.
She has visions of decorations, presents, and stockings,
Knowing that soon her favorites will come flocking.
She’s making her lists and checking them twice,
Every tiny little detail, right down to the ice.
“I’ll need this, and that, and the other thing,
To make sure for them all the holidays will ring.”

The annual greeting letter needs to be written,
What a year it has been and she’s pretty smitten.
Our family, our friends, they’re all welcome here,
Christmas is the time for having them near.
Traditions run strong in this family’s lifestyle,
Especially for her children, she thinks with a smile.
Mimosas and Caesars for those who partake,
A clink of the glass from the toast that we make.
The fun food, the seafood, the brie, and baked goods,
Thank goodness we often take walks in the woods.
There will be music, movies, menus and more,
And of course, there will always be football galore.
Poker night shenanigans have become legendary,
The luck of the draw is clearly hereditary.
The memories are potent from thirty plus years,
Empty seats at the table make her eyes fill with tears.
New family has joined bringing joy to her heart,
Youthful energy and laughter, always doing their part.
All will start changing as new generations arrive,
Before long the festivities will begin with a drive.
Will it snow she wants to know, although it really won’t matter.
They’ll do what it takes to be part of the clatter.
Fresh customs will form in the halls of the children,
Our joy will be deep as we know the truths hidden.
It isn’t about the long lists, tasks, and lore above,
It’s about making the most of the time with those that you love.

The opportunities for your next Montana adventure are unlimited and Cherry Creek Guest House is ready to serve as your home away.

Believe in yourself and anything is possible.

This is a blog about two inspiring children. They happen to be our children, and we would be inspired by them even if these weren’t their stories but why not share?
